As the temperature
soars up to 33 this week, i'm starting to think if i need an wardrobe update to
cool things down a bit. I'm a big fan of breezy pieces like dresses,
see-through knits, off-shoulder tops, shorts (but then i'm partial to skirts /
dresses because they're less stuffy), bat-wings, kimonos.
Here are my topsummer fashion picks:
Cold-shoulders
This top is perfect because you have
the security of straps on both shoulders (instead of one-shoulder), the print
is basically timeless, the V at the back gives you extra air for breeze, the
color looks good on both light-colored or dark-colored shorts/jeans (even red!)
This off-shoulder dress in white is
the epitome of summer, I'd pair it with sandals for a beachy day out, or
silver/grey pumps if going to a party.
Florals & Peplums
If you know me, I
love my peplums and huge florals, HERE is what ticks both boxes:
This floral dress will look at a
pool-side party or a dinner party, pair it with silver pumps or neon pink
shoes:
This
dress isn't floral in-your-face but more like digital print, plus the color
just cools any heat down, pair it with something white or silver and you're
good to go:
Pastel colors
Let's admit it, pastels are not only
for spring but they're here to stay for the rest of the summer season, this
pastel aqua + lace + cocktail dress is the perfect pick. Come autumn? Fear not,
just pair it with a blazer.
If
the previous dress is too girly for your taste, this one also ticks the right
color boxes for this season. Put a white cardigan on top, worn with wedges,
it'll look just as sophisticated.
Bold colors
I don't know about you but i've seen
SO MANY small red dresses lately - think they're making a comeback and is the
new LBD. If you're not very sure if red is for you, I suggest to go easy on the
color, why not pick something with a delightful bird print (i'm partial to bird
print - i have a watch and a top with the same matching bird, by different
brands!)
This bird print tea dress will see you through the whole of summer (strappy
sandals, a brown bucket bag, maybe even a huge sun hat), plus it'll ease your
transition to fall (layer a blazer over it, y'all), if you're not ready to let
summer slip through your fingers, yet.
I think you can't go wrong with the
following red dress that looks both party-appropriate and office-appropriate:
Another
pick that is more subdued but with no less sophistication on the front detail:
And
lastly, if you're a die-hard LBD convert, this will be the ultimate summer LBD
because it: (1) shows off your shoulders perfectly, (2) halter-neck and you can
conceal your bikini straps under it (think office-to-beach!).
What are your picks for this summer?
I'm all ears!
