Emptied Products in April

April went by in a breeze and I spent most of the time in sickness, ewww. It's not a very productive month in terms of empties but here's what I managed to finish:

Bioderma Micellar Solution - This 100ml bottle came in a duo pack which came in a box with their sample sized Soothing Mask. I initially HATED this because 1) I need at least 5-6 cotton pads soaked in this solution to remove my makeup, and still some beige color appeared after the N-th cotton pads I've used- meaning it not being very thorough in cleansing; 2) it's a terrible waste of both cotton pads and the solution itself, it's just not economical. I much preferred using cleansing oils to do the job. So one day out of curiousity, I soaked a cotton pad with this Bioderma solution after removing my makeup with cleansing oil, and swiped it on the face and smackkkk - the cotton pad showed some beige colored residue coming off from my face! I then had the idea of using Bioderma micellar water as double-cleansing after using oils. Recently I've paired this with Hitachi Hada Crie (they have a ''cleansing'' function using ions to ''suck'' the dirt out of pores literally). Readers, I'm very curious, how do YOU remove your makeup daily? Do you use oil/cleansing milk/micellar water alone? What are your steps?

Clarins White Plus HP Whitening Pure Aqua-Lotion - this toner is fantastic. It has just the right consistency and absorbs well once applied, never greasy. This is the older version, the newer version of the toner have been reviewed HERE. The newer version is milky color and this one is transparent. One point to note though, I suggest using whitening products (in general) only if your skin is sufficiently moisturized, 'cause if not, whitening products could irritate dry skin further!

Lancome Bi-Facil Eye makeup remover - used to be my favourite. I find it left my eyelids and undereye area a bit greasy (it felt velvety to the touch but still you can tell something is there), my HG now is Chanel Demaquillant Eye Makeup Remover

Jill Stuart White Floral Hand Cream - not a huge fan of this. Have you wondered what's the feeling of applying silicone-based primer onto your hands? That's pretty close to how I feel. I couldn't really feel any 'watery' feeling when squeezing out from the tube, it dries down pretty much after 15 seconds after applying. Did not notice any remarkable improvement on my hands after days of using it. I still have another tube.*facepalm*

Kiss Me Heroine Make Eye Makeup Remover - this one sucked. It can't remove my eye makeup thoroughly. How do I know? Because I used Chanel's afterwards just to see how much dirt is still there. So glad this is gone, will not buy again.

Jill Stuart Refreshing Body Towelettes - I don't think they sell these full size on its own but nevermind. It leaves a weird film on my hands after using. The floral scent is ok but I can live better without it.

History of Whoo Brightening Cleansing Foam - this came from a trial set gifted by Elaine as birthday present. I loved the cleanser! Can't you tell from the "foam" in its name? :P It lathers well and leaves skin squeaky clean, the scent is very nice too. I used samples of this before HERE.

Jill Stuart Berry Scrub (the older version) - now this is an OK product...when rubbing on the skin it gives you a warming/heating sensation, however I think the scrub granules are too sparse and not fine enough to make it an effective exfoliator. The berry smell in the product is a nice touch though. Still have samples of this remained (they are the newer revamped version).

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation #4 - this is the last tube sample, I previously wrote about it HERE.

Benefit Fake Up Concealer - luckily I got it as a card sample. Not enough coverage for my undereye circles. The texture is very moisturizing though, and creamy to the touch.

DHC Eye mask - reviewed these HERE. This is the older style packaging. If you see staples like this appear on Empties' post almost every month, you will learn that it's my HG!

Pangea Organics Japanese Matcha Tea with Acai and Goji Berry facial mask - now this is the mask that I've been REALLY intrigued by. Let me point out that this sample packet is 1) not enough for use on the whole face...and 2) it had a strong Goji berry smell, almost liked Chinese herbal medicine (in fact Goji berry IS one of the Chinese herbs...), since the sample is not enough for use on the whole face I cannot comment much on its effect. I'd consider buying full size if there's a nice discount going on.

Sofina ALBLANC Medicated White Create Massage Pack - dying to try this for months. It's a 3-in-1 (face cleanser + mask + massage) product. You know how much I like wash-off masks ;) Moisturizing and whitening at the same time? HELL YES! I've already pinned this on my wishlist!

I've managed to use up many masks lately - sheet ones and wash-offs alike, since I dug out what I think was close to 100+ sheet masks in the arsenal.....let alone the wash-off ones in tubes and tubs.

Nature Republic Snail Therapy 1,000 Hydrogel Mask Sheet - this is AMAZING. My cousin got me a few of these from Korea and she reminded me to use them because they were a bit more expensive than other counterparts under the same brand (I think this line in particular). The mask sheet is not woven by fabric, instead it's like a thin plastic film made from silicone, LOL, this mask can really stick onto your face without falling off! I don't care what it's made of XD I love how smooth, supple and bouncy it made my skin felt afterwards.

Nature Republic Aqua Collagen Solution Marine Hydro Gel Mask - got this from the beauty swap with fellow local bloggers. The mask is made of the same material as the above mask. I preferred the Snail Therapy one more than this one, although this one did a decent job in replenishing moisture and suppleness.

SANA Hadanomy Collagen Mask - these was sold in a pack of 4 and was not cheap. They did an amazing job in moisturizing and left skin feeling refreshed and supple, will buy again!

The Face Shop Real Nature Mask Pomegranate - I found the mask cloth quite poorly made, it doesn't seem to soak up much solution/content. There was nothing special after using either.

Apivita Express Beauty Mask with Pink Clay - reviewed HERE before. It's a staple during cooler months. For the coming summer months I''ll be switching to Green Clay, more on that when I started using later.

Apivita Express Beauty Mask with Orange - reviewed HERE. I enjoyed its cooling effect.

Apivita Express Beauty Mask with Grape - reviewed HERE. Even though it's decent, I won't be buying it in full size.

Apivita Express Gold Mask with Prickly Pear - reviewed HERE. HG moisture replenishing wash-off mask. Impressive moisture packed in a packet! I like to use this following the Pink Clay ones.

Full Size: (13) + 1 = 14
Deluxe samples: (29) + 8 = 37
Small / packet samples: (25) + 3 = 28
Masks: (12) + 16 = 28
Tossed: (5) + 0 = 5

So, back to the question, have you tried any Miceller water for removing makeup? Or, what do you generally use to remove makeup? Do you follow it with other steps (with foam cleansers, toners, etc)? I'm dying to know!!

  1. Oooh I LOVE Pangea Organics' mask--it's one of my favorites! That's too bad that the sample sachet didn't provide even enough for one use but Pangea Organics seems to have special discounts on their site quite often so I would sign up for email updates or check often! I personally LOVE that fresh, herbal smell of the mask and I really enjoy that it's packed full of so many great, really potent antioxidants! :)

    1. I shall go sign up NOW! That mask is sold here locally but at a much higher price. How long you think a full size tube will last you? When i tried the sample, I was told by the SA to cover the skin so that it doesn't show...it gave me an impression one had to use A LOT each time :) I can stand the scent, although am not very keen about that XD

  2. Great empties! The Bioderma is actually a cleansing water, so rather than using it as a remover you should continue as you are and use it after getting off the bulk of your makeup with an oil/other remover. It is great for lazy nights over wipes too!

    1. Emma, I know right? It appalled me how they advertise to use it to remove makeup ALONE, and how many girls really DO THAT, LOL!

It's a great supplement to any form of makeup remover/wipes, it works much better that way :)

  4. Wow girl, you for sure consume A LOT OF MASKS!!! I feel ashamed now because I'm so lazy about using masks. I kind of slather dry oil on my face and call it a day! I'm pretty sure I still have a sachet of Apivita Prickly Pear sitting around. Must get around to using it soon!

    1. Prickly Pear is really nice in providing moisture :) some days I just slap on oil or moisturizer and go to sleep, but having masks is entirely different - I feel my skin more plump and supple than having oils alone!

  5. Good job! I tried to use up some masks and treatments this month, too, but I use something once and forget about it for another month or so.

I remove my eye makeup before removing the rest of my face makeup with oil cleansers, etc, and double cleanse after, so the film that the Lancome Bi-Facil leaves never bothered me. But some day I'll have to try your fave the Chanel. :)

    1. Thanks for sharing your routine! I always worry if I add another cleanser after using oils to remove makeup would be a bit harsh on the skin, I think there's a need to try this method now!

  6. I'm surprised Kiss Me Heroine eye makeup remover sucks because I love their mascara remover!

  7. Sometimes I'll remove my makeup with a cleansing water & separate eye m/u remover but most times I'll use a cleansing oil & eye m/u remover. Either way, I always follow by cleansing my whole face with the Clarisonic. It may seem like overkill to use 3 different cleansing products but I haven't broken out badly since following this method so I won't be stopping anytime soon!

How do you like the Hitachi Hada Crie btw? I've been wanting one but it does cost a pretty penny!

    1. Thanks for sharing your cleansing method! I use oil + eye mu remover and followed by toner...but lately the breakouts made me reconsider maybe I should add a cleanser instead like you said!

I've been using it on and off...will try to review it one day when I'm over with exploring its many functions! XD yeah the cost is double than that of the Clarisonic!
