Summer Fashion Picks

As the temperature soars up to 33 this week, i'm starting to think if i need an wardrobe update to cool things down a bit. I'm a big fan of breezy pieces like dresses, see-through knits, off-shoulder tops, shorts (but then i'm partial to skirts / dresses because they're less stuffy), bat-wings, kimonos.

Cold-shoulders

This top is perfect because you have the security of straps on both shoulders (instead of one-shoulder), the print is basically timeless, the V at the back gives you extra air for breeze, the color looks good on both light-colored or dark-colored shorts/jeans (even red!)

Shoppers’ alert: FLASH SALE at ZALORA online on 12 December!

If you think the Singles' Day online online frenzy on 11 November has your knees weak, then you’d surely have a heart attack come Friday December the 12th ! The online clothing store ZALORA will be having a flash sale (“Online Fever”) that day with discounts bigger than any time this year! I suggest to sing up in case you forgot when the flash sale kicks in, click HERE to sign up for Online Fever deals, not sure for the faint-at-heart though, consider yourselves warned!

Brands like Fossil, Aldo, Ray-Ban, Vogue, Mango, Rubi, Nine West, Steve Madden, the house brand ZALORA and ZALORA Basics would be included in the flash sale, here are my personal picks:

These Piedim Heels by ALDO, 'cause they’ll make any legs look longer (the front slits) :
Ray-ban RB4196 Polarized Square Sunglasses in a warm-toned color HERE, for days when you don't feel like having eye contact with anyone (mornings commute I hear you!) :

MANGO Speed Handbag, unarguably it looks just like the Celine Trio bag! It's such a steal and can be found HERE.
Or if you are like me, who can't live with a mini bag on most days, try this Triple Compartment Bag HERE. But you know what? I suggest getting this for the weekdays, and the Speed Handbag above for the weekend.
The above could go really well with the floral skirt and Faux Leather Wrap skirt HERE and HERE. The floral print should last you well into Spring or even Summer. The skirt in red is well, who doesn't need a pop of color for Xmas and Chinese New Year? One skirt = both festivals checked!

*This post is sponsored by ZALORA but the links are not affiliated (I'm not earning money for each purchase).

Calling all gym-procrastinators out there

Ya'll know at the beginning of every year you declare to be a gym rat but never quite got around to it? Well, I do. Which is why the latest sports apparel especially for women is a huge godsend. I've just found one more reason to be a gym rat - wear some candy-colored sports outfit, look stylish and hit some treadmills. On the subject of this, I haven't got any of these new stuff to try/play with, so this is not a review but rather, a brief mentioning post.

3 Things I'm looking forward to in Spring 2014

1. FURLA handbags as arm candies

I've recently browsed via FURLA S/S 2014 offerings and its a plethora of candy pastel colors with plastic material. I'm really into plastics lately (you'll see in point 2) since they are almost un-destructible, lol.

Giordano Ladies F/W 2013 Preview

The other day I was invited to Giordano Ladies' F/W preview. If you're not familiar with the brand, they're bascially Hong Kong's version of Uniqlo. Giordano stores are affordable and Giodano Ladies targeted at business women who wants to look chic in more than black and white color combos. The price range is slightly higher than average Giordano.

Some fun stores in the neighborhood!

I've recently paid visits to these fun and quirky stores around my neighborhood, well straightly speaking, 2 brick and mortar stores and 1 online store. The first brick and mortar store I've recently been to is called "Oh My Glasses" (link here), or "OMG" in short.

Secret treasures revealed at Swarovski F/W 2013

The designers at Swarovski had done a marvelous job this season. The F/W 2013 collection is aptly named "Secret Treasures", it took inspiration from the Silk Road. Each piece resembles something unique from China to the Himalayas, from India to Venice.

True Religion Brand Jeans F/W 2013

A few days ago I had the pleasure to attend the F/W 2013 preview at True Religion store at IFC Level 3. I'm never big on jeans because I can't wear them to work, for one, secondly I'd rather wear dresses on weekends instead of pants. Yet, the latest collection arriving at True Religion store had me re-considering the jeans option again.

Cath Kidston Coming Up Roses Collection & Store Event

2013 marks the 20th anniversary for Cath Kidston, the first store opened in HK early this year and now a Limited collection called "Coming Up Roses" is being released in celebration of the 20th anniversary. I've been an avid fan of Cath products (mainly kitchen utensils and stationery, bath and body items that I'm fond of), I know some people are fans of their tote bags and all that, but it's the home accessories that drew me in.

Uniqlo Flagship store opening in heart of Causeway Bay NOW!

On Thursday 25th April the Uniqlo flagship store opening at LEE Theatre in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The store unveiled at the heart of the shopping district and is 3-storey high, once you stepped in you could easily spend an hour there! I remember the days when I traveled to Japan with my family, we bought back tons of Uniqlo items, bright colors, comfy fitting, Uniqlo has it all.

A stroll in Tropical Paradise

This spring season I'm officially dazzled by the colorful offerings from the latest Swarovski collection - aptly named Tropical Paradise. This season is filled with colors inspired from rivers, flamingos, and ladybirds.

Those collars up and below have caught the eyes of every guest at the event - the two pieces scream "Statement"! Some may think colorful accessories embellished with crystals are difficult to match with their clothes, but I think the opposite. It's exactly the boredom of office-safe monotone clothes that make these pieces stand out.

I'm totally in love with the pink bracelet above, too!

How adorable are the earrings!!

Even though I'm a bit afraid of insects and such, these two necklaces with ladybird motif are just breathtaking. I particularly like the green setup of this product display for this season!

The white bracelet above will capture everyone's eyes whenever you move your hand. I. NEED. THIS. Why, this bracelet will become an excellent match with any outfit.

Also the black bracelet below that flows like a river cascade. I need this. Period.

The gorgeous models showcasing the latest pieces, I love their vibrantly hued outfits!

Some exotic dance performance by a group of sexy ladies:

Mystery guest: the singer group TWINS - Gillian Chung on the left and Charlene Choi on the right, sharing their styling tips with the guests.

Extra perk: If you make a purchase at Swarovski, be sure to mention the secret number "226" and you'll get a surprise gift! Now if you would excuse me, I need to stop by the store to get the charming bangle in white and pink.....and maybe that thick black bangle too!

Orient Express by Giordano Ladies S/S 2013 Highlights

I was intrigued by the Orient Express train back in High School due to a travelogue we were told to read for literature class. It takes you through Europe to Istanbul in Turkey, and one can't but imagine the journey and the sights to see. Giordano, a local clothing brand, had taken inspiration from the signature train journey onto their spring/summer collections.

The collection comprises simplistic and light-wash colors. Beige, sand which symbolizes earth and dust, silver, glitters, black represents the galaxy when you look out to the European sky on the train at night, digital prints and wine red stands for exoticism of the East.

I've had my eye on this trench coat, made of thin fabric and is button-less on the outside. This coat is HK$1,250.

This dress is lightly scooped around the neck and is perfect as a clean-cut summer wardrobe addition.

Silver, glitters, digital prints also appeared on light weight fabrics:

The Orient Express-inspired collection had landed in all Giordano/ladies stores, be sure to check out when you're in town!
