The brightest blush in my stash? REALLY! Canmake Powder Cheeks in PW30

I checked. It's been ages since the last time I talked about BLUSH. As a proud blush fiend, I have talked about a new blush each day for over 30 days (see "A Blush A Day" Project I've done HERE and HERE. Click on the tags under the two posts if you're a blush fiend interested to learn more). In fact, I don't think I can repeat such a project now, because 1) I think my stash has almost every color, tone, finish of blush there can be; 2) I don't get THAT excited about blush anymore, don't ask me how it happened, lol.

Spending too much time browsing the drugstore racks randomly Curiosity had landed on me one day and I thought: "hey I don't have THIS color at home!" and off it went with my money in the wallet. I don't own NARS Exhibit A nor Taj Mahal, nor MAC Bite of an Apple, for your reference. And besides, who would have thought a Japanese drugstore brand would step up in their color options and offer such a daring, bold, flamingo-looking shade? And besides, it costs less than $100 HKD (can't remember), so why not........
lol.

Like the Canmake powder cheeks I wrote about before (HERE and HERE if you want to read), the compact is flimsy, cheap-looking (not complaining...you get what you paid for at such a price tag). The brush is really tiny, more like for highlighting the nose bridge instead of applying blush, but anyway, it's made of synthetic fibre and it's not even effective in applying anything, so there's nothing to write home about. I usually tossed such brushes aside once I opened the compact and use.

Gone are the days we thought of Canmake producing only office-safe, cute kawaii shades for creating innocent looks...the above picture pretty much said so!

All Canmake products did not state how much product is in it. Not that I can finish a blush anyway, so never mind.

I swatched it heavily (read: 1 swipe) on the right and blended it a bit on the left. Pigmentation is moderately high and the blended color is a flamingo kind of red. It's not entirely red nor orange, not coral either. My skin had been misbehaving for most of the year so if I"m not careful about the amount, I might end up looking I have scarlet fever or something. But then, if you have perfect and clear skin I totally recommend you to try this shade out! I really look forward to see if the brand comes out with any new 'interesting' shades!

Performance-wise, there's a bit of fading at the end of the day (after like 6-8 hours of wear), my tip is to use a brush with less dense bristles, maybe a fan brush if you like, to work with this blush.

  1. I'm in love with red blushes at the moment, so this post came in at the right time! I think Canmake also has a red Cream Cheek? Jen, have you tried that out?

    1. Thank you Mishi for the headsup. My only gripe was the flimsy packaging, otherwise it's perfect!

  6. That is just SO pretty! I've heard a lot of good things about Canmake and have always been curious but since it's not very easily accessible here, I haven't been able to (I really dislike ordering cosmetics sight-unseen from online). But I think I will eventually

  7. Man, I'm loving coral tone blushes and this one is so cute! Not too keen on the swatch tho : / it seems a little too.. I dunno. I can't think of a word. But man do I wish I had Bite of an Apple. THAT COLOR IS SO DOPE!

    1. Do you mean the color looks bright but in real life seems to be dull or plain? I kind of agree on the hand swatch - but once it's on the face it comes alive.

hmm this one is not exactly coral though :)

  8. I've had a thing for red blushes since my good experience with the Addiction Revenge. So the moment I saw this Canmake blush, I bought it without hesitation. But this shade is kinda elusive in Singapore... I've seen it only once in the stores after I bought it. Either it's LE or it got snapped up every time it made its appearances!

    1. Lol how do you like it??

Canmake likes to make LE shades and then months later they will say it has become perm! I kinda dislike the way of selling things like that.

  10. Can you believe I've tried practically every Canmake Cream Cheek but none of their powder blushers? My next Canmake purchase must include this blush & their new lip balm thingies!

  11. sure if you have no colors like this, then give it a go! their powder blushes in safer colors (peaches, pinks and all that) are just mediocre and I'm sure u have those colors in your stash already!
