April Bits and Bobs

April wasn't an exciting month - I spent half of the time brought down by a serious flu, and with that, April was (nearly) gone in a breeze. I thought I"d do a round-up of April here, beauty-wise.

First off, who could have imagined there were days with just 18 / 20 degrees Celcius in APRIL here? You see, with the summer season approaching (supposedly), I did not carry any lip balms with me since I know I wouldn't need them. But I found my lips chapped quite much that it hurted, and out of panic I reach for the drawer and open this Fresh SUGAR lip balm duo.

The two tubes were adorably sized, the tubes were so sleek and tiny that I worried the clumsiness in me would lose it. So far they are still safe in my bag (YAY!).

Then came Bioderma Micelle Water. I bought their set of mini Micelle Water back in December and tried removing makeup using this solely. Not great. In fact it would waste so much cotton pads and Micelle solution (5 cotton pads soaked with this and still some more dirt could be wiped......), I found this to be a terrible wasteful way of using. Then I had an idea. I used my beloved cleansing oils as usual, and after that I soak a cotton pad with this Bioderma cleansing water, and couldn't believe what my eyes saw. I used to think that cleansing oils did pretty much most of the cleansing job, but once I tried adding this step with the Bioderma remover, I never looked back. I used 1 cotton pad soaked with this after using cleansing oils to remove makeup, the cotton pad was mostly clean but still showed some residue (beige-colored - I suppose coming from foundation residue), and my face finally felt CLEAN. Oh my, I can't imagine using 1) this Micelle solution by Bioderma  ALONE to remove makeup, because it's terribly wasteful of cotton pads and the solution itself; and 2) cleansing oils alone. Already repurchased.

I can't recall how long I had been eyeing this Guerlain quad - since last fall when it came out I think. This palette screamed WARM and BROWNS (okay maybe SUNBURNT too), but for some strange reasons I liked the look of it on other blogs...I grabbed this with 30% off!!! Tee hee. These days my lemmings are mostly about skincare products, color cosmetics lemmings are hard to come by (is this some sort of a sign?).

Ever since the lovely Lynn gave me a sample of this Perfumed Water by Kenzoki, I was addicted to this scent. I love EDPs as a general rule because of their longevity and intensity. Relaxing Lotus SHH Perfumed Water carries white lotus, powdery and milky notes (smells a bit musky to me too!) is my night-time favourite. I spritzed a bit everywhere and dozed off peacefully....I thought about getting a full sized for a month and caved in finally, because nothing beats a good sleep and a relaxing mood.

Powder drinks satchets - coffee with Oreo flavour!

Then I also met up with the lovely Jess, Jacq and Dorothy for dinner and we done a mega swap!! This is the start of our swap where we put loads of products on the tableeeeee, I bet other people thought we were nuts!!

I brought a heavy bag of stuff to the dinner, and went home with an equally heavy bag!! LOL
Let me show you SOME of the pile I got from the lovely ladies that night:

I know MUA is cheap at Superdrug but haven't tried any of their products - and I love neutrals palette!

I love APIVITA masks (any type of wash-off masks in general), and I've been curious about Caudalie and NUXE lately. I also got an Elemis shower cream, The Saem black pearl bubble mask, etc etc.....
and finally TONS OF SHEET MASKS! My sheet mask storage bag was overstuffed now ;P I'd remind myself to use them religiously from now on...

And lastly, I will leave you with an "OMG I hit pan!" picture: you probably can guess what it is. If not, it'll show up in the empties post in the coming months haha!

How was your April? Did you discover any new products? Old favourites that you used to like but forgotten? Any swaps you've done?

    1. they do smell quite decent and does an ok job in moisturizing. I wouldn't have bought them though, this mini duo is a perk from sephora :)

  3. Congrats on hitting pan and that looks like a nice swap/meet-up. :)

There aren't any products that get all the makeup off without bending over at the sink. I don't know how people remove foundation with ONLY micellar waters. I could use up an entire package of cottons to try and it still wouldn't be enough. Like you, I tried using it after oil cleansers to remove every trace of makeup and there was a bit of beige remains on the cotton which was surprising. That's why I try to use toner after every cleanse as well, to really get everything off before moisturizing and all that. SO MUCH WORK OMG.

    1. lol totally agree - relying on Micellar water alone is not thorough enough, not to mention a portion of cotton pads would be gone. I like removing with oil first, then Micellar water, then rinse and apply toner and serum. SO MUCH WORK!!!

  4. I've been wanting to try Bioderma but have always resisted because I use cleansing oil... I was like what's the point of buying Bioderma since I heard it's not strong enough to take off waterproof makeup. I think you just gave me an excuse to :P

    1. that's how i gave myself an excuse to repurchase this in Full size!! nothing is worse than less-than-thorough makeup removal!!

  5. I have tried Bioderma and my experience so far has been fine. It's not my fave make up remover as I find that it's too light for me. However I like to use Bioderma for prep my face before I apply my night cream :)

    1. I heard some like to use it to replace cleanser in the morning!! It's definitely an easy way out in lazy nights ;D

  6. I love the Fresh lip balms and Bioderma micellar water too! I seldom need a lip balm during daytime (if I slather quite some on at night my lips are usually fine the next day. My go-to night balm is NUXE), so I STILL have mine!

I like the idea of Les Fauves but unfortunately I don't love it on my skin tone. Any reddish eyeshadows just don't look too good on me! Must be so much fun to swap too!!! Jealous!

    1. so many have raved about NUXE lipbalm I need to try it next!!

Argh i worried about Les Fauves being too warm on my skin tone as well, but can't resist a good deal, LOL and i've been eyeing it for months!
