Sofina Beaute Makeup Cleansing Gel Review

I accrued a sample of this Cleansing Gel during a crazy haul last year at Sofina counter. I was into makeup removing gels a while ago since I suspect that the cleansing oils I'm using might block my pores, which led to breakouts. I opened this sample up and was delighted at its scent and texture.

Sofina is a skincare and makeup line under KAO Corporations and this line is targeted at 20-something ladies. The packaging is simplistic, feminine (often with lace and flower motif), priced moderately. The ALBLANC line is slightly more expensive, targeted at skin whitening. Sofina Beaute is the basic care line.

This deluxe sized sample is good for about 10 uses, as I squeezed about half a walnut's size to remove my makeup. When using this makeup removing gel, make sure your hands are dry. After you finish the rubbing, you rinse with water.

As it was touted as a gel, I was thinking it'd be viscous (like a cream), instead it's pretty light and a bit runny. If you don't rub fast enough, it'll probably slide off your palm.

The floral scent is delightful, its power is just about right but a bit redundant (as I prefer products to be unscented and natural as far as possible). This is what it's like after blending out and rubbing:

I'm slightly disappointed at its job to remove heavy makeup (full face of liquid foundation) as I tested with a cotton pad soaked with Bioderma Micellar Water and some makeup traces can still be seen. However, it could possibly work out fine if you have minimal makeup or sunscreen on.

I had redeemed a full size of this makeup removing gel using shoppers' point accumulated from shopping with the brand. I intend to use it on days when I have minimal makeup on, and I'll always follow with a micellar solution afterwards for optimal removal of dirt.

  1. Just shows that one cannot be too careful with double cleansing. Sofina has lovely packaging - I've only tried the sunscreen which is awesome in hot and humid weather. Too bad the cleansing gel is so-so but then I def think double cleansing is necessary for makeup removal!

    1. I bought loads of Sofina before but wasn't quite convinced by the results. Agree with the double cleansing!

  2. I've never seen a cleanser so clear and runny before! I like that it's colourless and close to a watery gel. Might be great for a simple cleanse in the morning!

    1. This could be best used in the morning I agree, due to its runny and watery texture. A larger amount might be needed if used for makeup removal.
