It is only winter that can make me more diligent in applying hand creams, as signs of chapped, wrinkled folds, and flaky skin become more obvious due to the low humidity weather. I remember opening hand creams laden with silicones and immediately trashed them into the bin; some hand creams are more amicable (texture-wise) but still when you look closer, they also carry the much-dreaded dimethicone. I still own a few of those hand creams and am on a mission to finish them up and buy only 'clean' hand creams in future. Then I looked on some natural beauty retailer websites and found this by Dr. Hauschka:

I heard of Dr. Hauschka before but knew nothing about its skincare/bodycare/makeup range. Thanks to the transparency of the web, I could read its ingredients before buying. Let's take a look:

Albeit it has fragrance/parfum, the rest of the ingredients are notably more 'understandable' (mostly oils and extracts). As for alcohol, certain kinds can be drying and certain kinds are used to make the ingredients to mix well together. There are good and bad kinds of alcohol, not all alcohol makes you dry (according to a book I read on cosmetic ingredients).
This sample size is 10ml and is sold at 2.7 GBP, now the price is not exactly cheap but it's a great way to try out new brands. Dr. Hauschka line likes to use metal foil tubes or glass bottles for packaging - I've explained the reason why in a recent post before (HERE).

Now onto the hand cream, it's slightly yellowish in color, and texture leans light (but not runny). It absorbs in no time once applied, and is perfect for light-duty seasons. My hands are moderately chapped and could use more hydration than this cream offers, and if you have dry hands or already-chapped hands like mine in this deep winter, you'll need a heavier-duty hand cream than this one. All in all, it's not a bad product, I like its ingredient components and I have bought a few more of these, they'll be my handbag's best friend once we transit from winter to spring.
Hey Jenni, thanks for the review! I am not big on dimethicone either. The reformulated Caudalie one doesn't have cone anymore, and I also love Aesop ones. If you ever run out of hand creams to try, give those a go :)

I never know there was such a thing as 'good alcohol' so thank you on explaining...I will take notice of this Dr. Hauschka but strangely I seem to skip on creams that are easily available :).
ReplyDeleteLol things r always brighter on the other side of the moon :) we don't have dr hauschka easily available here (it is in a brick n mortar store but is not hugely popular among the local crowd). for me I like their hand cream because I can read the ingredients; if it was from a Japanese brand very often I can't read the ingredients and am less inclined to buy it
DeleteI was super into this brand two years ago but didn't try much. Their rose day cream for super dry face always get raves and I like their line of body oils.
